A Short History of Ofada Rice

Ofada is grown in the lowlands of South West Nigeria and named for the town of Ofada in Ogun State. Long before it was packaged for city tables, families cooked it the same way: a heavy pot, palm oil, and patience. The grains have a story you can taste — earthy, a little nutty, with a wholeness that polished rice can never match.
